Day trip to Fatima, Nazaré and Óbidos

Nazaré

This little town is a gem! The views are breathtaking. I probably wouldn’t stay there because the town isn’t well developed yet but it is growing to accommodate the tourists who come for the surf competitions . It is definitely worth the stop if you are passing by!

Óbidos

Medieval walled city – the city is very quaint and quiet! We visited the home of one of the original Ginjinha “producers “ in the area . The home where they do the tastings has been in the family for over 3 generations! The Ginjinha served here is organic unlike some of the more popular tasting locations in Lisbon . It is made from infusing sour Morello cherries ( grown locally) with brandy , sugar and cinnamon and letting it sit for years. This drink is served in a shot glass and is very smooth unlike some us brandys.

Some of these from their cells are are 50plus years old . Not sure how they know with all the dust and lack of labels! They must be either fabulous or turned!

PORTO!!

Wine tasting tour in Duoro Valley .

Even though it was a rainy day , our visits to 3 different wineries was thorough enjoyable. We had a fabulous guide, Carlos( Heritage Tours) and a fun group of people to round out our tour!

Beautiful Porto!

We had such amazing weather and the walk along the river was great . So many people out and about , eating at all the restaurants while street musicians entertained them!
