Food tour!

Pierce and Paris recommended that we try devour tours for our food tour in Madrid. It was really amazing. Our guide was from San Diego and is now living here with his family. He took us to some really unique specialty type restaurants.

El Abuelo serves those delicious shrimp served in olive a oil and tons of garlic!

The mushroom place serves little stuffed mushroom caps filled with sausage and pepper which you each with 2 toothpicks , one on each side of the cap so you don’t lose the ingredients. The last restaurant serves fried and bartered cod which was my 2nd favorite in all of Spain! Believe me , I tried a lot of salted cod!!

SIDE TRIP TO SALAMANCA & AVILA

CATHEDRAL OF SALAMANCA

One of the only cathedrals with both a new and an old church. They built the new cathedral with the intent of tearing down the old one, but they never did. They are both distinctive and beautiful. plateresco architecture style

Avila – home Saint Teresa and another walled medieval city!

Kicking around Madrid. Thyssen museo. Almost preferred this to the Prado, great diverse collection of artist throughout the decades . !! I love the impressionists and Rodin but so nice to see Georgia O’Keefe too!
